Yesterday morning I flipped on the TV to catch weather and traffic before I left the house. As the screen warmed up and the sound came in I was pouring cereal, I realized there was this face talking up close to the camera, then pictures of a gun - you know the rest - and then commercial break. It took me a couple thousand nano-seconds to realize what I saw. Why on earth was I seeing this? Why does the media think they have an obligation to share these things with everyone ?
I have not bothered to give more than a few nano-seconds of my brain energy remembering, pronouncing or trying to figure out how to spell this humanoid's name. I don't care - we shouldn't give any more care to him - he has moved on to leave nothing good behind him.
The talking faces on the TV (have I ever mentioned that I really, really, severely dislike the Media?) came back to interview some higher up at a TV station on the east coast. This person declared - and yes, everyone will jump on this boat now - that this incident could have been prevented. Oh really? We have that much power to pre-empt every psycho with two legs and opposable thumbs from spreading tragedy? Wow, what if, what if these powerful people actually stepped in and made it worse?....caused psycho-person to really, really let loose?
I think it's wrong for the media to have possession of the salt box with the pouring spout wide open. My heart goes out to those involved and affected.
