Dude in Flip Flops

I received an email with these fantastic pictures of this dude wearing flip flops doing something rather spectacular (or stupid, you decide).   They were taken by Hans van de Vorst.   The description stated that he was photographing a sunset, then proceeded back to the real rock, indeed doing a death defying act by jumping across the chasm - with flip flops.

 

Then I went to Snopes.   Sure enough, while the pictures are real, Mr. van de Vorst did not show a ledge beneath that would indeed stop a death fall, negating all the fun out of the visual.
