With a bowl of guac. and a side of chips, I headed downstairs to the computer for a quiet moment of reading everyone's blogs. However our speaker sits near the top of the stairs so the music drifts washes floods down the stairs to the basement. Tonite it happens to be Teen du Jour - that high voiced, fast paced, everysongsoundsthesame music. There must be 10 CDs in there. It won't stop. And Tori knows ALL the words.
I was never like this as a teen. I didn't need music to complete me. I was quiet, well mannered and did all the dishes without anyone asking. Then I discovered Rock when I was 16 - and that was on a tiny dial up radio that was inadvertantly left on the kitchen counter.... I happened to find a station broadcasting from Phoenix - I was 90 miles away in the mountains. I heard the Eagles and Bruce Springsteen. I liked that Eagles song (Take it to the Limit....), and I was hooked. Not long after I got my own car - The Valiant (see October archive under Pep Rallys and Pom Poms - I am not clever enough to link to it yet). Push button Trans and Radio. I was on my way to being a music connoisseur - by my mid-twenties I could name the tune, band and what albums they put out in the right order.
Now I am old and inept. Who are these girls singing with their bare midrifts still trying to emulate Britney Spears? I at least thought she was out by now. And they all have the high pitched voices - my music teacher says they don't sing right. Oh, I shake my head and rub my face. I feel like Professor Bobble. Just give me a nudge.
You need the iPod....loaded with the good stuff! I enjoyed cleaning the house today to good 'ole ELO, Elton John, Boston, CCR, The Eagles - you know, the good stuff! The advantage with the iPod, you can turn up the volume, block out the other "noise" and create new "noise" when you sing at the top of your lungs to the songs....I guarantee it will delight your family member's hearts to hear you....ha! I get yelled at frequently, but I secretly smile because it's a bit of a pay back to having to endure music blasting from their rooms every time they're getting ready to go anywhere! :-) Try it!
